Our health insurance for The Netherlands 2018

When it comes to your health, you don’t want to bother with which doctor has a contract with your health insurer or not. You just want to be helped by a doctor of your choice. And as soon as possible. At De Amersfoortse we couldn’t agree more. Therefore, we offer a 100% free choice in hospitals, physicians and pharmacists, reimbursing all authorized healthcare providers in the Netherlands.

  • How does the Dutch health insurance system works?

    A basic health insurance is mandatory

    • Anyone living or working in the Netherlands is obliged to have basic insurance. Even if you already have a health insurance in another country.
    • The government determines what is in the basic insurance. This basic insurance covers the costs of the standard care such as a general practitioner (GP), hospital, psychiatrist or pharmacy.
    • Every healthcare insurer in The Netherlands is obligated to accept you for their basic health insurance. The insurer charges you the same premium as everybody else. Regardless of your state of health.
    • Children under 18 years old are insured with no additional costs via one of their parents.
    • In addition, everyone (voluntarily) can insure for costs that isn't covered by the basic insurance. 

  • What options do you have in general?

    You have 2 options
    In general, you choose from 2 kinds of policies:

    • Refund policy. With a refund policy you may choose any healthcare provider. Becouse we believe in freedom, this is the only policy we at De Amersfoortse offer.
    • In-kind policy. With an in-kind policy your insurer chooses healthcare providers they see fit and contract them. If you need care, you choose one of these selected healthcare providers. Would you like to be helped by another healthcare provider? Then the health insurer may ask you to pay a part of the costs yourself. If this suits you, you may want choose another insurer than De Amersfoortse.

    You decide
    With our refund health insurance you are free to visit any healthcare provider in the Netherlands. This means you can always go to any general practitioner and any hospital in the Netherlands.

  • Excellent coverage with our supplementary insurances, also abroad

    Extensive coverage
    Do you want to be insured for costs that are not covered with the basic health insurance? Then pick one of our complete supplementary insurances. We offer an extensive coverage of healthcare costs and an excellent premium. 

    Compensation when urgent assistance is needed
    A great advantage of our supplementary insurances is that they compensate your urgent assistance:
